As the festive season approaches, we’re excited to share the wonderful activities and events planned for the Christmas period at The Bulwell Academy. We have a variety of initiatives designed to spread joy and celebrate the season with our school community.
This briefing also provides useful information (towards the bottom of the page) regarding: last day of term arrangements; financial help for families; and safeguarding and wellbeing support during the holiday period.
During the last week of term, we will reward students for excellence in their subjects and attendance. This is an opportunity to celebrate their hard work and dedication.
Students will pick their reward prize during tutor time on Friday 6 December. Please ensure your child is on time to ensure they get to choose their prize!
Students now have the opportunity to spend their Bulwell Bucks in the Marketplace on Christmas gifts for their family, costing from 800 to 1500 Bucks.
There are lots of gifts on offer to suit all the family, plus our usual Bulwell Bucks rewards.
Students can come in early from 8am to do their Christmas shopping!
This year, we are delighted to announce an Advent calendar with daily prize draws for students attending school. Thanks to the generous donations from local businesses, prizes include a £50 voucher, a bike, a Christmas hamper, and selection boxes for the whole family. Every student attending school every day in December will receive a selection box on the last day of term.
In the spirit of giving, we are collecting non-perishable items and toiletries for Bestwood & Bulwell Foodbank. We encourage all students to contribute and help those in need during the holiday season.
All donations are to be handed in to students’ tutors. The tutor group with the most donations will win a pizza party at the end of term.
On 13 December, we will hold our traditional Christmas dinner at a cost of £2.50 for a two-course meal (free to those in receipt of Free School Meals). There is no need to book, but lease make sure your child’s lunch account has been topped up on Arbor Payments.
Friday 13 December will also be our Christmas Jumper Day, where students are encouraged to wear a Christmas jumper or something festive with their full uniform. Note: If wearing a woolly jumper, a blazer is not required.
Join us for our annual Christmas fair on Thursday 19 December from 3:30 to 5:00pm. We are seeking donations for stalls. If you would like to contribute, please send any items into school with your child or pop them into school reception.
Our talented students will be performing at the Bulwell Light Switch on and at the Hall Park Care Home as part of our community outreach efforts.
We are proud of their commitment to spreading holiday cheer.
Our Winter Wonderland event will be held on the 19 December.
Students will need at least 3500 Bulwell Bucks to be eligible. The more bucks, the better the prize!
More details will be sent at a later date.
Celebration assemblies will take place for every year group during the last week of term.

We recognise that Christmas can be a financially difficult time for many families.
We want to offer help to all girls and women in our Bulwell family who are in need of period products to see them through the holidays.
We have a variety of items available to suit all, provided through the UK government’s period product scheme. Girls can collect these items from the First Aid Office before school and during break times. Family members are also welcome to collect from Reception during the last week of term, 16 to 20 December from 3pm to 3.30pm.
Holiday shopping vouchers will be provided to all families currently in receipt of Free School Meals. Families who are eligible will receive an email regarding this nearer the end of term.
