Safeguarding & Wellbeing

“Safeguarding children because every child matters”

Support during Term-Time

At THE BULWELL ACADEMY, we place the highest priority on safeguarding children.

Every year group has a Safeguarding assembly delivered weekly to ensure they are knowledgeable on specific areas of safeguarding.  From September 2024, parents/carers will receive updates to inform them of the weekly focus along with useful resources.

To ensure all students are safe, we need the support of all staff, parents, visitors and our community. If you have any concerns or worries about the safety and welfare of our students, please inform the Safeguarding Team immediately. DO NOT KEEP CONCERNS TO YOURSELF.

All safeguarding concerns should be reported to the Safeguarding Team.

Miss Amy Fuller
Vice Principal – Designated Safeguarding Lead

I am proud to lead a knowledgeable and hardworking safeguarding team who want the best outcomes for all Academy students.

The Safeguarding Team will support the children and families of The Bulwell Academy to ensure that barriers to education are removed and parents are signposted to the relevant support agencies. This support and assistance encourage our students to be aspirational, kind, and equipped with the social skills and knowledge to build positive futures.

Miss Hannah Moore

I am passionate about working with young people and ensuring that, during their time here, they gain the right knowledge on how to keep themselves safe before they gain their passport to adult life.

As part of the Safeguarding Team, I endeavour to provide students and families with the upmost support and guidance.  I joined The Bulwell Academy in September 2023, having worked in Education for 5 years in different pastoral roles.

For the majority of pupils, the school holidays are a time to relax and take time off from studying. However, for some, the school holidays can mean a period of difficulty for many reasons. Please refer to the image above which contains important information regarding emergency and support services, including numbers to call and online resources. You will find more supportive information below.

Helpful Resources for Students

Dear Student: Do you need to talk to someone or tell someone something that you are worried or concerned about?

There are numerous ways that you can report safeguarding concerns:

  • Speak to any member of staff in school. It is important that you do this as soon as possible if there is serious risk of harm.
  • Speak with Safeguarding staff on duty at break-times in blue high-viz jackets
  • Use the ‘I need to talk’ post box located on the end of the Attendance Office. This is checked regularly and students are then collected from lessons to speak to someone from the Safeguarding Team
  • Access The Student Voice platform
  • Attend a Safeguarding drop-in session

The Student Voice* gives you a platform to share information about how safe you feel within school and in the local area and the ability to anonymously report concerns that will be actioned and responded to appropriately by our Safeguarding and Pastoral Teams. Click on the red button below to access The Student Voice.

What is Early Help?

Early Help means getting the right support when you need it. That is ‘The Right Help at The Right Time’. It’s about different groups working together to help families, children, and young people. The Early Help service listen to families and use their experiences to help them get stronger and reach their goals. It includes things like making sure children and young people grow up healthy, do well in school, feel good mentally and physically, have good family relationships, and stay safe from harm.
