New school ties can be ordered on the Arbor School Shop and collected in school from your child’s Director of Achievement (all new Year 7 students will be given a free tie on their first day in September 2024). If your child grows out of their uniform or leaves the Academy, we would appreciate if you could donate any unwanted uniform to the Academy to help us replenish our Recycled Uniform Shop. Please hand in any items to the Reception Desk at any time during the school day.
Students and parents/carers can view our recycled uniform during school opening hours. The recycled items are on display in our Reception area along with Lost Property. You can swap any good quality uniform items you no longer require for items from our Recycled Uniform Shop. All our items are checked and washed before they are placed in our Reception.
We have a number of pairs of shoes donated by Shoe Aid. These are free to anyone who is struggling with the cost of buying shoes (one pair per child).
We have recycled trousers, shirts, skirts and blazers. These are available for you to purchase at a low cost or to swap for donated items.
Recycled blazers are not held in Reception. Please ask if you require a blazer and we will let you know if we are able to help. There is also the option of buying a new blazer for a discounted cost of £20 in exchange for a good quality donated blazer (depending on our stock levels).
We do not have recycled ties. Any donated ties are used for loaning to students who forget to wear their tie to school. New ties are available to purchase on the Arbor School Shop.
Facebook is a good place to start looking for recycled uniform. Search Bulwell Academy uniform on Facebook Marketplace or take a look at the Facebook groups below.
Firstly, there is the Academy’s own Facebook group for buying, selling, gifting and swapping uniform: facebook.com/groups/bulwellacademypreloveduniform
Once parents/carers have joined the group they can list items needed or items they have to sell, gift or swap.
Secondly, try the Nottingham School Uniform Exchange Group on Facebook, where you will find uniform items advertised for all schools across Nottingham.
Lastly, keep up to date with events and news in your local community with the Bulwell Community Facebook group, where you may also find uniform for The Bulwell Academy listed and can also post your own adverts. There is also a Facebook group for parents run by parents.
Please rest assured that we will not allow financial restrictions to negatively impact any student’s access to the correct uniform. In order for us to explore further support, please contact: enquiries@bulwellacademy.org.uk
We also want to make you aware of three charities that can support with uniform and shoes for both secondary and primary school children.
The Nottingham Uniform Project collects uniform donations from schools and makes them available to parents to upcycle and save money at the same time. The project is supported by the Sharewear Clothing Scheme who accept all clothing and shoe donations. Sharewear offers free-of-charge clothing choices to people in economic difficulty. Likewise, Shoe Aid helps families who are struggling to provide their children with shoes that are fit for purpose.
If you require a referral to the Uniform Project, Sharewear or Shoe Aid, please email enquiries@bulwellacademy.org.uk.
