Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) is the government body responsible for inspecting schools.
The Bulwell Academy became a member of the Creative Education Trust in 2018, and was registered as a new school on 1 May 2018.
The Bulwell Academy was inspected by Ofsted in March 2024. The findings of the Ofsted inspection can be found below:
The Bulwell Academy has a clear plan of action in response to the Ofsted Report, and a number of rapid improvements have already been made.
Our key areas of focus are shown below.
To continue to improve the attendance and punctuality of all pupils, in particular pupils with SEND and those who are disadvantaged.
To continue to reduce suspensions of pupils, in particular pupils with SEND and those who are disadvantaged, so that pupils do not miss learning and achieve improved outcomes.
To review and evaluate the academy’s curriculum so that the planning and sequencing of lessons leads to pupils knowing more, understanding more and being able to do more in each of their subjects.
To improve pedagogy and practice within the classroom, so that teaching consistently helps pupils acquire and apply the intended knowledge, addresses misconceptions, provides effective feedback, and involves all pupils in making improvements to their work.
To further enhance and improve the academy’s broader curriculum, including pupil leadership, so that pupils are active, responsible and respectful citizens, who make a difference within their communities and are prepared for life in modern Britain.
