Tutor Time Programme
Why Tutor Time Matters at The Bulwell Academy
Tutor time is an essential part of life at The Bulwell Academy because it helps students feel a strong sense of belonging and connection to their school community. It provides a daily opportunity for students to build positive relationships with their tutor and peers, creating a supportive environment where every learner feels valued. This time is dedicated to personal development and wellbeing, ensuring students start the day with purpose and focus.
Our tutor time programme includes a weekly assembly that explores current affairs, British values, safeguarding matters, and significant events around the world, including religious and cultural celebrations. In addition, themed sessions such as Fantastic Friday, Wellbeing Wednesday, and a dedicated literacy tutor time help students develop essential skills, boost confidence, and reflect on their personal growth. These activities not only enrich learning but also prepare students for life beyond the classroom. Find out more below.
Fantastic Friday
Fantastic Friday is all about celebrating success and ending the week on a positive note. Students reflect on their achievements, share highlights, and take part in activities that promote motivation and pride. This session reinforces the importance of effort and resilience, encouraging students to finish the week feeling accomplished.
Wellbeing Wednesday
Wellbeing Wednesday focuses on mental health and emotional resilience. Through discussions, activities, and resources, students learn strategies to manage stress, build confidence, and maintain a healthy mindset. This dedicated time ensures that wellbeing is prioritised alongside academic progress.
Literacy Tutor Time
Literacy is a key skill for success in every subject and beyond school. Our literacy tutor time sessions help students improve reading, vocabulary, and comprehension through engaging activities. By strengthening literacy skills, we empower students to communicate effectively and access the full curriculum.
Behaviour Curriculum Session
Tutor time also includes a session dedicated to our Behaviour Curriculum, which teaches students the expectations and routines that create a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment. This session helps students understand the importance of accountability, responsibility, and the habits that lead to success both in school and in life.
Quality of Education Information
We use tutor time to share important updates about the Quality of Education at Bulwell Academy. This includes guidance on learning strategies, curriculum priorities, and how students can make the most of their lessons. By keeping students informed, we ensure they are active partners in their own learning journey.
