Student Leadership

Vision & Milestones
The student leadership pathway promotes positive leadership and an emphasis on the Character Curriculum of our school. We want our students to be aspiring leaders who uphold our school values — 'Aspire, Work Hard, Be Kind' — aiding their academic, social and personal development; bringing Bulwell together and improving our school community.

How can I become a Student Leader?
In the summer term of every year, we elect new student leaders, following a rigorous application process including putting together campaign videos and speeches, a whole school vote and, finally, being interviewed by a staff panel.
Our Head Prefects lead a team of Deputy Head Prefects and Year Group Student Council Leaders who meet every half term.
All of our leaders work on a half termly basis, with meetings minuted to demonstrate impact of the student leadership meetings.
After pupil voice feedback earlier this academic year, we have created a Bulwell Marketplace leadership group. This group is responsible for running the marketplace where students can spend their hard-earned bucks from their good behaviour. These leaders collate voice on what our students want in their marketplace, make sure that the stock is suitable, and ensure that the shop is open daily.
Who are the current Student Leaders?
Our school community can easily recognise our Prefects who wear black blazers to make them stand out from everyone else. Students can find them at break, have a conversation about our school, give them their feedback and their ideas, and let their voices be heard!
