English as an Additional Language

There are lots of exciting things happening for our EAL students here at The Bulwell Academy!

At The Bulwell Academy, we use Flash Academy— an award-winning resource that creates lessons for students tailored to their strengths and areas of development in learning English as an additional language.

Students will be given login details for the platform which they can access at home any time they want for extra practice!

We reward excellent progress on the platform by giving students certificates, so students can share their achievements with parents and carers at home. Students then follow up this independent work with lessons taught in school by the fantastic Mr Korpa.

There is also more to come for our EAL students in the next academic year, including:

• Breaktime and lunchtime clubs, where students can further practice their English, as well as teach each other their own first languages
• New books in a range of languages for our school library for students to take home and read whenever they wish
• 12 brand-new iPads to support students in lessons
• And lots more!
