Student voice and student leadership is really important to our school community. It brings a sense of belonging and ownership. The Bulwell Academy belongs to our students and their voice will continue to support us in bringing about positive changes.
The election process in the summer of 2024 was really exciting. Our student leaders went through a vigorous application process including putting together some great campaign videos and speeches, a whole school vote and, finally, being interviewed by a staff panel.
Our Head Prefects lead a team of Deputy Head Prefects and Year Group Student Council Leaders. 57 students have been elected to the year group student councils and will meet every half term. This number will increase to 64 when Year 7 elect their student council.
Our school community will be able to easily recognise our Prefects who have been issued with new black blazers to make them stand out from everyone else. Students can find them at break, have a conversation about our school, give them their feedback and their ideas, and let their voices be heard!
