World Book Day 2025

We are excited about World Book Day on Thursday 6 March 2025 which includes an opportunity for the Bulwell community to come together for our World Book Day ‘Family Quiz’! Find out how to sign up below.

It will be a day full of book-themed activities. We are looking forward to seeing our staff dressed up providing students with the chance to guess which book they have chosen for their department’s theme.

Writer Visits

On Wednesday 5 March, knowledge master John Gordon-Reid (What On Earth! Magazine) will be expanding the minds of our year 7s with his interactive sessions on science and nature, culminating in a whole year group quiz!

On Thursday 6 March – The amazing AM Dassu (Kicked out, Fight Back) will be giving talks on her incredible novels, one of which (Boy, Everywhere) has been studied by our year 8s!

Book related lessons for Years 7 to 9

Books aren’t just for English lessons! Key Stage 3 students across all subjects, from Maths to Modern Foreign Languages, will enjoy creative and exciting lessons about texts that link to their subject.

Staff Fancy Dress

Staff from all departments will be dressing up as some of your favourite book characters! Think you can guess who everyone is dressed as? Pick up a sheet and fill in as many characters as you can. Whoever gets the most correct wins a prize!

The Masked Reader

If you thought The Masked Singer was exciting, wait until you’ve seen The Bulwell Academy’s Masked Readers! Each morning from Monday 3 March until Friday 7 March, students will see secret staff members reading a short story. Can you work out who’s behind the mask?
