Back to School

Industrial Action Suspended

Following continued talks, the two teaching unions—the NEU (National Education Union) and NASUWT (The Teachers’ Union)—have agreed to suspend strike action planned for this week to allow for agreements to be embedded.

We look forward to welcoming all staff and students back into the Academy on Tuesday 30 January.

We sincerely apologise for the disruption caused to parents and students during this difficult time and look forward to seeing Years 7 to 11 tomorrow morning for their usual start time of 8.25am.

Please visit the Letters page below to read previous letters regarding the industrial action.

Celebrate & Monitor your Child’s Behaviour

At The Bulwell Academy, we use a digital tool called Unified Classroom® Behaviour Support (formerly known as Kickboard) to celebrate and monitor your child’s daily behaviour choices. Students are given credits or debits for their positive and negative behaviours on a daily basis which all add up to Bulwell Bucks rewarded in their Pay Check issued on Fantastic Friday. Students can then spend their Bulwell Bucks in our Marketplace on Friday lunchtimes or save them for another week.

Sign up to the Family Portal

Parents and carers can view their child’s behaviour through the Family Portal. This is an exciting opportunity to see how your child’s behaviour choices are impacting their learning, and to celebrate their achievements daily.

A letter containing your invitation to connect to the Family Portal is being posted home during the first week of the new term in January 2024. It is quite simple to sign up following the instructions below.

If you would like to discuss the App further, or if you are struggling to access your child’s information then please do not hesitate to contact us at Kickboard@bulwellacademy.org.uk. Please do not telephone our Reception as they will not be able to provide technical help.

How to access Kickboard Family Portal

  • Download the Unified Classroom Behaviour App in Google Play or the App Store or visit PowerSchool.com/sign-in/behavior-support/
  • Click Sign Up as a Family Member
