GCSE Success at The Bulwell Academy

Thursday 24 August 2023

Students and staff at The Bulwell Academy, part of the Creative Education Trust, celebrated their GCSE exam results today.

Teenagers across the country had been awaiting their results after sitting the exams during May and June. This year has been a challenge for all in education, with many schools still recovering after the pandemic.

It is also the first year that grading returned to pre-pandemic standards, however, exam regulator Ofqual asked exam boards to take into consideration the disruption students have suffered due to Covid-19.

At The Bulwell Academy staff have gone above and beyond to ensure students were prepared and confident while sitting their exams. Staff worked relentlessly in order to ensure that students leave school with choice over their futures. The Bulwell Academy is incredibly proud of these results and the performance of some students who have performed exceptionally.

The extra support paid off with many students achieving excellent results, including the following grades:

  • Grace McEvoypictured below with Mumachieved four grade 9s, three grade 7s and two Level 2 Distinction* grades.

Damian Belshaw, Principal at The Bulwell Academy, said:

“Although I have only just joined the school, I am really proud to see our students achieve such an excellent set of results. These results represent the culmination of hard work over a number of years and to see so many individual successes is why we all came into teaching. All of the staff at Bulwell wish our class of 2023 the very best as they begin the next phase of their educational journey.”

Marc Jordan, Chief Executive of Creative Education Trust, said:

“On behalf of everyone at Creative Education Trust, I want to say a huge congratulations to all of our Year 11 students. They have worked incredibly hard, and they should be very proud of their achievements today. I’d also like to pay tribute to our staff, who have worked tirelessly to support students and encourage their success. I wish all our students the very best for the future, I know theirs will be bright.”
